A sculptural hand-carved Tonga stool from Zimbabwe
Hand-carved from a single piece of wood, the Tonga stool is a genuine artifact of the Tonga people of Zimbabwe. Traditionally a status symbol owned by the head of a household, each was carved freehand with its own lines and patterns — light enough to carry, yet striking to behold, and used for rest, work and gatherings.
As a hand-carved natural-wood piece, expect small cracks, tool marks and tonal variation — the character of a genuine handmade artifact, not flaws. Lovely as occasional seating, a plant stand or a sculptural side table.
