Vintage Showa Cloth L - 44.1
A vintage Showa cloth from the Democratic Republic of Congo — a raffia cut-pile textile, woven by Kuba men and embroidered by the women, finished so neatly that no stitching shows on the reverse. Prized for their complex geometric patterns and inventive sense of rhythm and balance, each design is unique; the Kuba once traded these cloths as currency.
A genuine one-off — striking framed, as a wall hanging, or laid as a throw or table textile.
