An antique Chinese blue and white porcelain jar, hand-painted in cobalt on a white ground. A genuine old piece, it carries the subtle glaze variations and signs of age that make it one of a kind.
Jars like this were traditionally made as wedding pieces, decorated with the double happiness symbol — 囍 (shuāngxǐ), two joined copies of the character for joy, representing two people becoming one. Lovely as a sculptural object on a shelf or mantel, as a vase for fresh or dried stems, or holding small bits and pieces.
Size: approx. 20cm D × 20cm H. Opening: 9cm D.
