A hand-carved Namji (also known as Namchi) doll from Cameroon. Carved from a single block of African rosewood into a bold geometric figure, then dressed in lime-green beads and finished with cowrie shells, coins, metal and leather. No two are quite alike in stance, face or beadwork.
Traditionally these are fertility dolls, given to a bride at her wedding and carried as a good-luck charm. Once she has a child, the doll is kept on the family altar or passed down to her daughter.
A beautifully tactile piece with real presence — lovely on a shelf or mantel, or gathered with others.
Colour: lime green. Size: approx. 28cm tall × 10cm.
