What they doSpringtails are tiny (1–2mm) soil-dwelling creatures that graze on mould, fungi and decaying leaves. Inside a closed terrarium they clear white fuzz before it takes hold, recycle waste into nutrients for your plants, and quietly breed into a self-sustaining colony that never needs feeding. They don't bite, fly or harm plants — they simply live in the soil and moss, doing the housekeeping for you.
How to add themOpen the pot and sprinkle roughly half the culture onto the soil or moss of each terrarium — the springtails will vanish into the substrate within minutes. Close the lid and leave them to settle; you'll start spotting them as the colony grows. Tip: for a tidier transfer, add a splash of water to the pot, give it a gentle swirl, and pour the springtails floating on the surface into your terrarium.
Until you use them, keep the pot lidded, at room temperature and out of direct sun. Made from recyclable PP5 plastic — please reuse the culture pot before recycling.
