A bold original Asafo flag, handmade by Fante artisans on the Ghanaian coast and selected for its confident, graphic composition. Among the Fante, the asafo were the warrior companies, and their flags (frankaa) were stitched to declare pride and rivalry, each motif standing in for an Akan proverb.
Built entirely from hand-cut, layered appliqué, the flag carries the texture and individuality of a genuinely handmade textile — folk art with a strong contemporary edge.
Hang it as the anchor of a room; its scale and colour do the work. A rare find from our curated collection.
