Steen, Afrikaans for stone, takes its cue from the granite boulders scattered along Cape Town's coastal cliffs at Clifton and Llandudno. Architects Stefan Antoni and Greg Truen of the world-renowned practice SAOTA turned those forms into low, horizontal planters that look powerful yet delicately poised, as if perched on the edge of a cliff.
The three sizes are made to be grouped and endlessly rearranged. Their chiselled profile works at eye level, but they are at their best seen from above.

Finishes
Glass reinforced concrete in black, sandstone, terracotta, mushroom, nutmeg, oatmeal, white, brown or grey. Choose your finish above.
Built to last
- Self-watering liner with a water-level gauge. The reservoir can keep plants watered for up to four weeks.
- Glass reinforced concrete, around twenty times stronger than standard concrete yet lighter than a solid planter of the same size.
- Indoors or out: made to handle frost, heat and rain. Fit the plug indoors; remove it outdoors so rainwater tops up the reservoir.
- Soft-touch feet protect floors and carpets.
- Plants can be potted into the liner off-site, then dropped into the planter once it's in place.

Made to order in Cape Town. Please allow 8–12 weeks for UK delivery.
Each planter is cast and finished by hand in Indigenus's own workshop once you order, in the size and finish you choose. This is a large, heavy piece, so the shipping shown at checkout is a guide price: after you order we arrange a courier quote for your address and confirm the final cost before dispatch.
