The deconstructed nature of Hausa (pronounced How-Zah) allows each aspect of artistry to stand alone, yet together. As in art and food, deconstructed seating aims to take us back to the purity of form.

An exposed wooden frame houses stately cushioning, complemented by a textured hessian-lined base, accented with nailheads. The curved features of the sofa and armchair pay tribute to the Yoruba chair - the classically arched throne of Nigerian kings and queens. Throughout Africa, the chair is believed to be the most important piece of furniture. A man’s chairs speaks of his identity and his place in the community.

In line with its shape, the Hausa weave was inspired by ancient West African textiles and is produced in one of South Africa’s last textile mills. With a polycotton blend and 3000 rub count the fabric is ideal for upholstery.
