A hand-carved Baule mask from the Ivory Coast, made by hand from wood. Baule masks appear in three kinds of dance — the gba gba, the bonu amaen and the kplekple — at harvest ceremonies and celebrations: some honour beauty and age, the bonu amaen guards the village from outside threats, and the round, 'lunar' kplekple mask, topped with two horns, celebrates peace and joy.
A striking wall or shelf piece with real cultural depth.
Size: approx. 20–30cm tall.
