A large hand-carved Baule mask from the Ivory Coast, mounted on a base. Baule masks appear in three kinds of dance — the gba gba, the bonu amaen and the kplekple — at harvest ceremonies and celebrations. This is the round, 'lunar' kplekple form, surmounted by two horns and danced to celebrate peace and joy.
At over a metre tall, a real statement piece for a floor, console or wall.
Size: H 110cm × W 65cm. Base depth 15cm.
