A vintage hand-carved bowl from the Tuareg, the nomadic people of Niger and the surrounding Sahara. Often called the "blue people", they take their name from the indigo dye of their veils, which rubs off and tints the skin — and they are renowned for their leatherwork, jewellery, metalwork and body adornment.
Each bowl is hand-carved by Tuareg artisans, with its own unique form and decorative inlays of leather and copper. Not every bowl carries copper or metal inserts — see the photos for the detail on this one. A genuine collector's piece for a considered interior.
Size: 21cm H × 37cm W × 36cm D.
