A hand-carved memorial post (kigango) from the Giriama, a Bantu-speaking people. Carvings like this are rooted in Giriama faith and tradition, used to honour the deceased — the rows of triangular chip-carved patterns and the two triangular cut-outs near the top represent the hips of a person, beneath a sculpted head.
Size: 100cm H x 7cm W x 3cm thick.
