A Bozo fish puppet, hand-carved from Kola wood by Bozo artisans in Mali, then painted and antiqued through traditional underground smoking. The Bozo people are known as "masters of the river," and their art centres on their relationship with the Niger River.
These sculptures are miniature renditions of the Sogo Bo masquerade puppets used in post-harvest ceremonies, where young men's associations compete to find the best performers. Each piece is handmade and entirely unique.
Size: 45cm L. Stand included, height on stand 30cm.
