Benin Bangle
Many forms of wax cast bangles and anklets are found all over West Africa. They were used as a form of currency and to provide status to the wearer. Their value lay in the metal itself, and in the amount or ornamentation. They were forged onto a bride's arm as part of her wedding dowry.
