This hand-carved wooden bowl is made by the Turkana, a nomadic community in north-west Kenya prized for their woodcarving and metalwork. Light yet hard-wearing for a mobile way of life, bowls like these were used to store and transport food.
As a vintage, handmade piece it carries cracks, marks and a natural patina — part of its character, and no two are the same.
