A genuine vintage Namji (also known as Namchi) doll from Cameroon, carved from a single block of African rosewood and dressed in multicoloured beads with cowrie shells, coins, metal and leather. Each is carved with its own unique stance and expression.
Traditionally a fertility doll: given to a bride at her wedding and carried as a good-luck charm, then kept on the family altar or passed down to her daughter once she had a child.
A beautifully tactile piece with the patina and character of genuine age.
Size: approx. 25 × 10cm.
