Songye people, DR Congo — kifwebe society mask
Striated kifwebe masks were worn by the bwadi bwa kifwebe society to enforce social and political order, their carved grooves and bold colour-blocking marking out figures of authority. Male masks carry three-colour striations; this one's bold black-and-white banding recalls a zebra.
