Songye people, DR Congo — kifwebe society mask
These striated masks belonged to the bwadi bwa kifwebe society, worn at ceremonies as figures of authority and social order. Male masks carry three-colour striations and the bold markings here recall a zebra. Cut with deep parallel grooves and finished in pigment, it makes a striking wall or shelf piece with real presence.
