In Cote d'Ivoire, the fabric is affectionly called "pagne Baoule". The textile clearly finds its name and roots from the Baoule, Akan people of Cote d'Ivoire, but us more originating from the 16th century Ashanti Kingdom, which empire stretched from present day countries of Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire. For centuries, the fabric has been adorned during community gatherings, special events and traditional proceedings and festivities. For many local communities, the fabric is the main source of revenue. In the small town of Sakiare  its reported that 95% of the villagers are weavers.

Hand-Stitched using strips of fabric making these cushions very bespoke.

NB: TO CLEAN- a very gentle HAND washing (NEVER MACHINE, on any setting) in cool water with a very gentle detergent works, but even then, dyes may not be colourfast.

These cushions are made using strips of material stitched by hand.  They must be used gently and not heavily pulled against or you may get the seams of the unique strips splitting. If that happens you can sew them back but we cannot offer refunds or replacements if your cushion splits due to its usage.  Use them lightly!

    Inner cushion included.

    Size: 70x45cm
