A Benin bronze head from the Edo people of the Benin Kingdom in Nigeria, cast by the traditional lost-wax method — a wax model encased in clay, melted out, then filled with molten bronze — so every piece is unique, with finely worked detail across the surface.
Historically, Benin bronzes signified currency and status, their worth held in both the metal and the intricacy of the casting. A characterful sculptural piece for a shelf, plinth or mantel.
Size: approx. H 16cm × W 9cm (sizes vary slightly).
