Vintage Mossi Cotton Cloth 220 x 180 cm

An authentic Mossi cloth from Burkina Faso, the product of a whole community's work. The cotton is hand-spun by the women of the village into a thread with a lovely organic texture; the men weave it into long narrow strips on traditional handlooms; the strips are hand-stitched together into one large cloth; and finally the women embroider it with intricate motifs drawn from the natural world — stylised insects, reptiles, fish and birds.
A genuine one-off — beautiful as a throw, wall hanging or table textile.
