A hand-carved Namji (also known as Namchi) doll from Cameroon. Carved from a single block of African rosewood into a bold geometric figure, then dressed in tan-toned beads and finished with cowrie shells, coins, metal and leather. No two are quite alike in stance, face or beadwork.
Traditionally these are fertility dolls, given to a bride at her wedding and carried as a good-luck charm. Once she has a child, the doll is kept on the family altar or passed down to her daughter.
A tall, striking piece with real presence — a natural focal point in a styled corner or among a gathered group.
Colour: tan. Size: approx. 63cm tall.
