Kuba,Central Africa; the Kasai region of the Democratic Republic of the CongoMasks like the ngady mwaash are worn to celebrate women's contributions to Kuba society. Like many African masks, this one depicts a woman but is usually worn and performed by a man. One of ngady mwaash's most well-known roles is dancing alongside the mooshamb-wooy mask, who stands in for the king, in a pantomime depicting the founding of the kingdom
