Andile sculpted the original vessels in clay, cutting into the surface and pushing the cuts open where they meet; they were then scanned and scaled up into large glass reinforced concrete planters. Bhaca is the Xhosa word for scarification, the traditional practice of marking the skin for initiation, clan identity or healing.

The twist of the form and the slashing strokes run around every side, so each Bhaca reads as a sculpture from any angle. Set in a cluster they have real presence.
<details style="border-top:1px solid #e0e0e0;">
Dimensions & weights

Tall: 1138mm H x 743mm Ø, 85kg
Medium: 953mm H x 779mm Ø, 75kg
Small: 678mm H x 873mm Ø, 65kg
XS: 565mm H x 452mm Ø, 25kg
</details><details style="border-top:1px solid #e0e0e0;">
Finishes

Glass reinforced concrete in black, sandstone, terracotta, mushroom, nutmeg, oatmeal, white, brown or grey.
