This old antique Ethiopian Cho Cho basket is hand crafted by the Borana people using a combination of wire, rattan and mud. They are used to serve drinks to guests. They make for a beautiful piece of art cones with its own stand.
The vessel is made of tightly woven twine, and to make it waterproof its enforced with fat and resinous gum material found in the region. It's purpose was to hold and serve milk at special occasions for guests. Some have metal wiring used for decoration on the outside to add stunning details. Whereas this one is more rattan style.
